DeShawn Scott is a entrepreneur, community contributor, and creative. He founded The D5 Group, Sound United Media, hosts Sound United Presents, and owns Agnew & Jacobs, selling his artwork nationwide.
Despite dropping out in 10th grade, DeShawn earned his GED at 26, an Associate's from Trumbull Business College, and a BA in Social Science focused on Business Management and Communications from Hiram College. He has led in retail, food and beverage, and nonprofit.
DeShawn is a Professional Certified Marketer (AMA) and completed the SBA's Emerging Leaders program. He is producing the Ember Business Fundamentals and Growth Workshop series in collaboration with the City of Warren, Ohio, to help emerging business owners.
An awarded artist and photographer, Lee was the sole Mahoning Valley photographer in the international 24-Hour Project. He enjoys Afro-House music, dance, origami, gardening, and collecting chopsticks.
Heavily involved in the community, Lee collaborates to improve lives. He serves on the Bess Purpose Inc. Advisory Board. Known for determination, resilience, loyalty, and integrity, DeShawn lives by saying, "I never had the courage not to believe." He empowers others as a mentor, coach, speaker, and instructor. A loving parent, widower, and Bäbu (Swahili for grandfather), he continues to honor his late wife, Erica L. Scott.
